Gujarat Solar Park

Solar Park (actual Photo)
India has been a hot destination for Solar energy generation. Most of all Gujarat solar park has been one of the most ambitious projects ever witnessed.

The village Charankha situated in Patan district of Gujarat has been the epicenter of this tremendous growth of Solar energy in that 2000 hectare of land. Gujarat government has been cooperative and has given great benefits to the developers as well as contractors on the whole. The projects kicked off in a great manner.

Till January 2012 the cumulative projects commissioned or ready to be commissioned from batch I and batch II under Gujarat state policy have been over 600MW ( which is quite remarkable...!!! ) . These projects have been estimated to save around 8million tonnes of carbon dioxide being released into atmosphere every year.

Few big names who have come up with their projects are Azure power, GMR, Kiran Energy, Green Infra, Moser Baer, Lanco, Sunborne energy, Sunedison, Tata power, Wipro ecoenergy, Welspun Urja  and many others.

Overall after the visit in the solar park in Charankha it was a pleasant experience to see awareness for Renewable energy and specially Solar sector ( knowing the benefits... )

Solar Future looks bright and sunny...!!!!

As the clean energy investments are growing day by day India accounted for 4% of the clean energy investment globally, it reached $ 10.3bn in 2011 which is considerable growth as compared to $ 6.8bn in 2010 (considering this as Highest growth figure for an economy)  reported by Bloomberg. Reportedly it India has been a traditionally generating energy through thermal, hydro and nuclear.

The Solar Energy front looks really amazing as one of the Indian government agency based out in Chennai has has promised to deliver the state-of-the-art Solar Atlas of India within two years, which was previously done through NASA and satellite images.

But this Atlas will provide valuable information to the developers about putting up the plant, this would identify the places of great sun potential and would inform about solar energy generation to its optimum level.

As India is targeting 20GW of Solar generation by 2020. The National solar mission and Local authorities are giving financial benefits and subsidies to attract investors in Solar energy.

After the phase I of National solar mission, there was a mixed bag of results. Phase II came up with a shocking and surprising bids. Gujarat Government has been very actively and aggressively going ahead with their solar plan.

Overall their will be a good growth story for India and solar would be leading the way.

Alternative Energy India Summit, Gujarat - 09-10 Feb 2012

The organization Nispana Innovative Platforms, a Bangalore based company has organised an event titled Alternative Energy India Summit. The event would be held on 9th - 10th February 2012 at Mahatma Mandir convention hall, Gandhinagar, Gujarat

In this time of energy crisis, the state and central governments are realizing the importance of moving towards Renewable energy sources.Although India being first country to set up division of renewable energy in the ministry (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy - MNRE), its potential is still not utilized. Solar, Wind, hydro & biomass collectively - Renewable energy counts for around 10% of the total energy production in India.

So the Alternative Energy India Summit would focus primarily on wind and solar energy. The government bodies, companies around the world, independent consultants and may others would be attending to discuss current scenario and development of Renewable energy, as Gujarat is considered a Hot spot for solar energy after their attractive tariff rates and friendly government policies and also for the Solar Park in Kutch.

The agenda would be to grow the renewable energy sector, regulatory challenges and Energy management focussing on solar and wind energy. The Summit would also feature many manufacturing companies, instrumentation companies, developers and other EPC companies.

Please feel free to share your views before/after the event.
