Is installing solar or other renewables, really a green initiative???

Its been a long time that i haven't jotted down something. So just food for thought, as I was on one of the solar power project sites (as i have done only few). I was wondering about the green initiative.

Been on site for ample amount of time in month of May & in one of the hottest places in India working directly under SUN, has made me think about this.

Many of the companies have been working in this segment for a long time, they have tried to reduce the carbon footprint in atmosphere. But have they really???

The most important question lies in it. The huge projects all across world have been "completed" on one of the most important thing, we all call it as fossil fuel. And to reduce the global warming caused due to these fossil fuels we are turning towards a greener initiatives

What i meant to say is simple, we are turning towards green energy but on the cost of using fossil fuels itself, just few examples
1. To transport solar modules or wind turbines to a remote place needs fossil fuel
2. In the need of site office container we need fuel.
3. To travel to and fro from site we need fuel.
4. To shift heavy materials such as inverters, cables etc we need fuel.

and there are many more examples

So my question is
Is it really a green initiative or are we moving towards greener world???
